Marshmallow Root
Description : Marshmallow root is primarily used for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It is particularly beneficial for soothing irritations of the respiratory tract, throat, and digestive mucous membranes. Due to its mucilage content, it forms a protective film that helps reduce inflammation and calm dry coughs. It is also used to relieve mild digestive issues, such as bloating.
Taste : Mild, slightly sweet and earthy.
History : Used since ancient times, marshmallow root was prized by the Greeks and Romans for its soothing properties. It was used to treat throat inflammations, as well as to calm stomach aches and digestive disorders.
Instructions : Steep 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried marshmallow root in 250 ml of hot water for 10 to 15 minutes, then strain.
