L'Apothicaire
Sage
Description : Sage contains compounds such as rosmarinic acid, flavonoids, and phytoestrogens, which give it anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and hormonal properties. Studies show that sage helps reduce hot flashes and night sweats associated with menopause by acting on estrogen receptors. It also benefits digestion, relieving bloating and stimulating bile production. Its anti-inflammatory effects soothe throat and respiratory irritations.
Taste : Light, spicy, slightly bitter, with herbal notes.
History : Used since Antiquity for its digestive and respiratory properties, sage was also prized in the Middle Ages to treat the symptoms of menopause and age-related disorders.
Instructions : Steep 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried sage leaves in 250 ml of hot water for 5 to 10 minutes, then strain.
